The Role and move mechanic, as its name implies, primarily consists of rolling a die (or dice) and moving a token around a board. Often associated with older American style games, classic examples would be Monopoly™ and Chutes and Ladders™.

In the library's collect Formula D uses this mechanic. The players are driving a race car around a track and choosing their gear on each turn which determines the size of the die they can roll. You can only move up or down a single gear in each turn and as the turns in the track approach the driver must be cautious or run the risk of wrecking. As described in the Press your luck mechanic this game can test a players critical thinking as well as their problem solving as they try to race to victory!
