Community Service Resources

For more than four decades, Covenant House has helped transform and save the lives of more than a million homeless, runaway and trafficked young people. We offer housing and support services to young people in need – currently reaching 50,000 youth every year.

The Center for Women and Families provides trauma-informed advocacy and support for individuals, families and communities affected by intimate partner violence and sexual assault. We mitigate the impact of trauma by building resiliency and reducing risk factors at all levels. We are guided by a strong grassroots feminist history, and a commitment to social and economic justice. We co-create violence free lives, families, and communities. The Center has a shelter at our downtown Louisville campus where individuals and their children can reside in a safe and secure place while receiving assistance to rebuild their lives and move into permanent housing. Crisis response, sexual assault services, housing resources, children's services, and advocacy and support are also offered by the Center.

The purpose of the Wayside Christian Mission is to respond to the human need of the poor and homeless by (1) providing temporary housing/shelter, food, clothing, nurturing, spiritual and social enrichment, encouragement and referrals (2) and by providing the support services and skills that would permit and encourage a return to a state of self-sufficiency so that human dignity can be restored and the love of God can be shared.

Often people are confronted with homelessness in their communities but are caught without time, cash, or wherewithal on if cash will help. “I want to help. I’m unsure how.” These and other barriers lead to the easiest response: do nothing. And so, individuals without a home are told 100s of times an hour that they don’t exist. Samaritan provides a link between individuals without a home to the social and financial capital needed to meet housing and health goals.

Our mission is to prevent the abuse and neglect of children and adults by supporting families in crisis through education, counseling, advocacy, and support.

Since 1977, The Nest has been a lifeline for all individuals and families in crisis, facing adversity, or who have unexpected needs. Our holistic approach incorporates four FREE programs: early childhood education and care, family assistance for basic human needs, counseling and advocacy for survivors of intimate partner violence, and education and support for parents.
