Resources for Sexual Assault Awareness

Ampersand wants Kentuckians to be able to fully recognize the impact that sexual violence has on every community, and every individual within those communities, and to empower us to take a stand against what is unacceptable. They provide services and transportation for those in North-Central Kentucky who have experienced recent violence/trauma, multiple assaults or continued abuse, and adult survivors of childhood sexual violence. Ampersand serves people of all races, religions, gender identities, economic backgrounds, and sexual orientations completely free of charge.

The Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs, Inc. (KASAP) is the statewide coalition of the 13 rape crisis centers in the Commonwealth. Their mission is to speak with a unified voice against sexual victimization. KASAP welcomes survivors of all communities at any stage of their journey toward healing, and does not discriminate on the basis of age, gender, race, disability orientation, immigration status, national origin, education, socioeconomic class, veteran status, incarceration, political affiliation, type or time of sexual victimization, or other factors. KASAP is here to make sure every survivor in Kentucky is safe and heard.

With physical locations in Paducah and Murray, Kentucky, Lotus is the Purchase Area region's designated Children's Advocacy and Sexual Violence Resource Center. They strive to support survivors of child abuse and CSA and their families/caregivers completely free of charge, and work to create a visible network of support in communities where everyone can thrive free from the threat of violence.

MCCC"s Healing Program provides services to survivors of interpersonal violence and their loved ones, as well as community educational initiatives to prevent sexual violence before it starts, to the Big Sandy region of Eastern Kentucky. Their offerings include the Healing Place, a crisis stabilization center open to sexual assault survivors who need shelter, where trauma-informed medical staff can provide evidence-gathering exams and other care including inpatient and outpatient mental health services, group and individual counseling, transportation, and referrals. Access to legal advocacy and community/professional training is also available. MCCC also offers security-supervised exchange and visitation for families involved in current court cases of IPV, sexual assault, or stalking.

New Beginnings in Owensboro, KY provides confidential counseling and crisis services to sexual assault survivors of any age, along with services for their loved ones. Additionally, they offer informative and preventative courses for K-12 students.

Sanctuary, Inc. is the Pennyrile region's designated shelter program provided by the Kentucky Coalition Against Domestic Violence. They offer emergency services for those affected by sexual violence and IPV, short-term and transitional housing, advocacy and mental health resources, and preventative education.

Silverleaf Trauma Recovery Services provides support for survivors of sexual violence and abuse in the Lincoln Trail Area Development District of West-Central Kentucky. They offer counseling, crisis intervention, legal advocacy, medical care, community educational programs, and referral to other providers and resources.
